INITIAL SKETCHES
Our sketches aimed to represent design features that allowed simple and easy-to-learn organization of online course materials, whilst accommodating limited rural hardware and number of devices.
PAPER PROTOTYPES
Based on feedback we received for these paper prototypes, we continued to refine features to refine the ease of use and clearer labels of system status.
We felt it was important for teachers and students to engage with the app together, so we have different features clearly made for either student or teacher perspectives.
USABILITY TESTING
While iterating on our paper/low fidelity prototypes, we organized several usability tests that helped us identify places of improvement. User insights allowed us to
Add more labels and options for clarity, such as an upcoming assignments label for the student home page and edit content in the materials library
Fix issues with placement and hierarchy of GUI elements, such as tags and buttons in the video uploading and auto grader user flows
Additionally, heuristics evaluations were completed prior to our final prototypes to improve efficiency of use and user control/freedom.
